DESIGNER

Karen Burke Pelzer is the woman behind the design of SoleFood Restaurant. Using her keen eye for design, she has transformed this historic space into something new and modern featuring warm elliptical woods, a communal table set with river rocks and glowing candles, an inviting lounge area with oversized chairs and lush banquettes.

With SoleFood, Mrs. Pelzer dove in to create an eclectic and chic restaurant that respects the architectural design of the historic PSFS building while blending organic materials, style and comfort.

A native of Philadelphia, Ms. Pelzer has been a part of many exclusive teams of the finest in their fields for a variety of regional projects including providing interior design services for the adaptive reuse of the PSFS building by the Loews Hotel Corporation. She was part of the design team of the Alamo and Elephant and Castle Restaurants in Franklin Mills, PA and oversaw several projects for various Atlantic City Casinos including Harrah's and Caesar's. She helped create interior design services for a 30,000 square foot ÒMars themeÓ restaurant and retail space for Mars 2112 in New York City, and completed interior design services for a 2000-room resort and a 95,000 square foot convention center for Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. She is also part of the redesign team working on the Ventana Room at the Loews Ventana in Tucson, Arizona.

Mrs. Pelzer has also utilized her planning and renovation skills for various commercial and residential projects in Philadelphia including the offices of Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis, and Litvin, Blumberg, Matusow & Young, the Core State Bank in Roxborough, the Trevose Veterinary Center in Trevose, PA and the YMCA in Abington, PA.

Mrs. Pelzer resides in Center City with her husband and two daughters.
