Loews Boston Hotel Begins Luxury Mult-Million Dollar Renovation

Luxury Boston hotel reinvents former police headquarters building with an eye on style, community, and service

BOSTON (January, 27, 2014) – Just 10 months after entering the Boston hotel market, Loews Boston Hotel – located in the historic Boston Police Headquarters building at 350 Stuart Street – is embarking on a full-scale ten million dollar renovation to the stately property that is ideally situated between three of Boston’s hottest neighborhoods: the South End, the Theater District and the Back Bay. When completed, guests to Boston can expect a stylish hotel experience that reflects the Loews commitment to personalized comfort, the warmth of home and modern design that reflects a true sense of place. Renovations will encompass the hotel’s guest rooms and suites, the entrance lobby, 6 meeting rooms and a newly branded and reimagined restaurant and bar.

“Loews Boston Hotel will mirror Boston’s best qualities and pay homage to the unique history of the Boston Police Headquarters building. The sophisticated city style of Boston, paired with neighborhood comfort and a strong sense of community will be reflected throughout the hotel’s service to our guests,” said John Maibach, Loews Boston Hotel General Manager. “The original building is an amazing canvas from which to start and we are eager to introduce our guests to an inspiring hotel experience that offers a higher standard in boutique service and an unforgettable dining experience.”

The new Loews Boston Hotel will feature:

• 225 guestrooms and three suites renovated with distinctive wall coverings, hounds tooth fabric furnishings, signature Loews linens and the connectivity a traveler needs
• Meeting rooms that pay homage to heroic officers in the Boston Police Department
• A warm, inviting American restaurant with cuisine that blends fine French culinary techniques with the best from New England farms
• 6 meetings rooms including a new mini-ballroom with vaulted ceilings that can accommodate 100 people.
• A bar with classic cocktails, friendly bartenders who are the best at their trade in a setting of leather chairs, poker tables and piano entertainment
• Thoughtful, prescient service provided by a team of hospitality experts

During renovations, Loews Boston Hotel is offering guests a nightly reception featuring their chef’s selection of complimentary appetizers and bar specials at reasonable prices from 6-8 pm. The hotel has also arranged discounts with neighboring restaurants Back Bay Harry’s, Tico, Post 390, and Red Lantern.

A complete transformation of the guestrooms and dining spaces will begin January 2014, with an expected completion date of March 31, 2014. The guestroom design, inspired by a fine-tailored suit, will feature sumptuous hounds tooth, grey flannel and herringbone fabrics in a sleek design with every amenity for today’s traveler including the latest technology, complimentary Wi-Fi and plenty of work and relaxation space.

The newly designed and rebranded restaurant will serve local residents and neighbors as well as hotel guests as the local gathering spot. The new restaurant will debut this spring, and will reflect the best of New England farms as interpreted by a renowned French chef, as well as a cozy bar serving classic cocktails and a menu of great American standards.
