Water Sports & Bike Rentals
Loews Coronado Bay Resort partners with Action Sports Rentals so our guests can enjoy a variety of activities. Rental options from our on-site marina include:
- Power Boats – Pilot your own motorboat on the waters of San Diego Bay
- Jet skis – Experience the high speed thrills of our 3-person sit-down personal watercraft (restrictions apply)
- Water Skiing – packages include a driver and up to six passengers on board a 22’ deckboat including water-skis, wakeboard, kneeboard, wetsuit, life vests and basic instruction.
- Sailboats – Take a leisurely cruise in one of our sloops. Lessons and skippers available for the less experienced.
- Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Boards
- Kayaks (single or tandem) & Paddleboats
- Big Bay Kayak Experience & Nature Tour available on select days
- Bikes –mountain bikes, beach cruisers, kids bikes, baby trailers, surrey bikes and tandem surreys available for rent.

Coronado Surfing Academy
The team at Coronado Surfing Academy is dedicated to providing you with the ultimate surfing experience through their professional knowledge and unparalleled customer service. There are several programs and classes to suit any and all of your surfing needs including Stand Up Paddle lessons. Lessons include professional instruction, full body wetsuit & use of a soft surfboard. The approximate time for each surfing lesson is 1 and 1/2 hours with at least 1 hour+ spent in the water with an instructor. Click here to learn more.
Run, Walk & Bike Path
The Silver Strand bikeway is an easy, 9-mile (14 km) bicycle and pedestrian path from Ferry Landing Marketplace in Coronado to Imperial Beach at sea level with no elevation gain. It is regarded as the most beautiful and most cyclist-friendly bike route in Southern California. Guests can access the path at the hotel entrance.
The Silver Strand - Nature’s Bridge to Discovery interpretative trail offers the opportunity to learn about the ecology of the area and a great trail experience. Located on the eastern side of the Silver Strand in the middle of a Coastal Sage-Scrub environment (less than ½ mile from the hotel entrance to the north), the train begins at the Wing Deck near the Coronado Amphibious Base and stretches 1½ miles to Fiddler's Cove Marina. Five sculptures and construction projects highlight the ecology of the area in addition to 24 sand sculptures dedicated to the native plant and animal life. Sunset Sail Cruise
Come join us on our 27’ Catalina sailboat. Sit back and relax as we cruise the waters of San Diego Bay for two delightful hours. The Sunset Sail departs daily (weather permitting) and can accommodate up to six guests. Charges apply per person. Tours operated by Action Sports Rentals. During the summer months, we provide even more fun family activities including marshmallow roasts, dive-in movies at the pool and fun poolside activities during the day.
Indulge in all the magic and tradition of Venice right here in San Diego as you gently cruise in a private gondola through the enchanting canals of the Coronado Cays. Gondola cruises last approximately 50 minutes. Each gondola can accommodate up to six passengers. Cruises are available 3 pm to 12 midnight and weekends from 11 am to 12 midnight.
