Awesome April

One visit to Nashville during April and you'll understand why we call it "Awesome April." There's something for everyone going on every weekend for the entire month. Attend a nationally televised awards show, watch documentaries worthy of an Oscar, or listen to some of the most talented songwriters perform their Grammy-winning songs. From art exhibits and sports, to music and family entertainment, there's no better place to be in April than in Nashville.

Iroquois Steeplechase

What better way to enjoy a beautiful day than with horse racing. The annual Iroquois Steeplechase, which takes place on May 12th, 2007, has been a favorite for over 60 years. Make the most of the day by securing a tailgating space. If not, a general admission tickets gives you access to all the festivities, including The Iroquois Hunt Ball and The Giddy-up Gala, known as THE social events of the year. Other highlights include the fancy traditional hats worn by the female spectators throughout the event. Enjoy a great day for a great cause; proceeds benefit the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

Get ready for the hottest event in country music. A 4-day event featuring artists from both major and independent labels. Enjoy daily and nightly concerts, meet stars and get an autograph at the fan fair, watch celebrities compete in various sport challenges, and dance the night away with after-hours concerts. Country music's biggest party kicks off June 7th.

Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon

Why not take on a new challenge? The Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon leads you through some of the most scenic sights in Nashville to the tune of country music. More than 50 bands entertain on 28 stages throughout the run, while hundreds of high-school cheerleaders cheer on participants. The event continues into the night with post-concerts featuring country, rock, jazz, blues, swing and much more. The marathon begins on April 28th at 7am.

Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville

For sixteen years, the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville has brought together some of the most famous experts and exhibitors in antiques, decorative arts and landscaping design from around the world. Wander through the more than 150 booths and admire the many gardens. Then attend a lecture and learn the latest on creating a beautiful home and garden from experts in the industry. The show takes place from February 7th to 11th, 2007.

You'll enjoy loads of shopping and expert advice that will make you feel like a new woman! The show takes place April 12th to 15th, 2007.

Tennessee Renaissance Festival

Travel back to 16th century England in the Village of Covington Glen. Join the villagers, artisans and musicians who bring this small town to life. Explore Castle Gwynn, a full-size replica of a twelve-century border castle and the Weaponry Collection. Come share the excitement of jousting events, and wander through the Renaissance Marketplace displaying the skills of more than 60 artisans. Visitors are encouraged to wear costumes. Festival takes place throughout May 2007.

Nashville Boat & Sportshow

Let your outdoor adventure begin at the Nashville Boat & Sportshow. Join thousands of boat enthusiasts as they gear up for the upcoming summer season. See what's new in boats, fishing gear, marine products and services, and find the best travel destinations. Check out the dog training seminar presented by master trainer Keith Milby, and get the secrets to training man's best friend. Looking to buy a boat? Experts are on hand to offer their advice on choosing the right boat. Plus, loads of presentations, contests and giveaways throughout the week. The show takes place from January 10th to the 14th, 2007.

Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival

The Nashville Songwriters Association International presents the 15th annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival. The festival showcases the talent of more than 250 of the best songwriters from a variety of musical genres ranging from Grammy-nominated rock artists to critically-acclaimed singer-songwriters. Over 70 shows are presented throughout 5 nights of stellar entertainment from March 27th to the 31st, 2007.

TACA Spring Crafts Fair

Discover great finds at Tennessee's premier outdoor showcase for craft artists. Nashville's Centennial Park welcomes the fair the first weekend of May and attracts more than 50,000 people each year. Browse through the crafts of over 175 artists then enjoy a meal at the international food court. Live entertainment helps to set the tone for the day while you shop the day away.

Music City Independence Day Concert Spectacular

Get ready for the ultimate fourth of July celebration. A celebration with star-studded performances and incredible fireworks. Ranked as one of the top ten Independence Day celebrations in the country, the concerts attract close to 80,000 people each year. Listen to the sounds of top artists, including Janie O'Neil, Diamond Rio and Charlie Daniels, then watch the sky light up with dazzling fireworks.

Tennessee State Fair

Take the family out for a day of fun and entertainment at the Tennessee State Fair. Each year the Fair presents great educational exhibits, agricultural and art contests, the best midway rides in the country. There are pig racing, cow milking and mule pulling competitions, too! The Fair promises great food and great times.

Christmas Village

Get into the spirit of the holidays at the Christmas Village where you'll find more than 260 merchants from all over the US. Find the perfect gift for everyone on your list, from toys and clothing to pottery and collectables. You'll even find that special something for the person who has everything. The Village takes place in November.

Nashville Ballet presents Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker

Experience the show that has become a true holiday tradition. Beautiful colors, dazzling costumes and magical sets adorn the stage while the sounds of Tchaikovsky performed by The Nashville Symphony Orchestra and more than 200 dancers bring the story to life.
