Modest needs partnership
Employees at the Loews New Orleans sell sundaes in cafeteria.
We are pleased to announce our partnership with Modest Needs Foundation, a non-profit organization
dedicated to helping hard-working individuals and families who find themselves faced with unexpected
emergency expenses that have the potential to be catastrophic. This year, Modest Needs Foundation celebrates
its 5th anniversary and millionth dollar donated. Our national alliance with the organization signifies Loews
Hotels' renewed commitment to our Good Neighbor Policy, the first of its kind in the travel industry when it
was launched nearly two decades ago.
"Small Change. A World Of Difference." A slogan that succinctly describes how, for so many people, covering
an unexpected expense can prevent them from entering the cycle of poverty. Modest Needs is an inspirational
and extremely innovative organization that, via the Internet, will enable Loews Hotels to directly make a
difference in the neighborhoods where we operate hotels. It speaks to the heart of our commitment to being
responsible to the communities where we do business.

Throughout the year, Loews Hotels will embark on a variety of local and national activities to bring awareness
to and raise funds for Modest Needs Foundation. In addition, special "funded by Loews" icons will appear at
ww.modestneeds.org to denote when a Loews Hotel has made a contribution and funded an applicant. All of us
at Loews Hotels hope that you will join us in supporting Modest Needs. Together, we can make a world of difference.
Loews Good Neighbor Policy
Created in 1990 by Jonathan Tisch, Loews Hotels Chairman and CEO, the Loews Good Neighbor Policy is the company's
formal commitment to our long-standing tradition of understanding our responsibility to the communities where we
own and operate hotels. Loews Hotels addresses various issues of social concern and supports charities corporately,
and each destination is required to conduct specific activities, including:
- Donating excess food to local food banks, shelters, and hunger relief programs.
- Supporting local literacy programs by providing space for classes to be held and volunteer instructors from the hotels.
- Extensive recycling programs including office paper, newspapers, aluminum, plastic, and the purchase of recycled products when possible.
- Donating used goods such as linens and furniture to local organizations and shelters.
- Encouraging volunteer activities for hotel employees.
- Implementing energy saving equipment in new hotels and in existing properties as they are renovated.
- Loews Hotels Good Neighbor Policy was awarded the President’s Service Award, the highest honor given by the President of the United States for community service directed at solving critical social problems.
