The Best Spots for Rosemont Wedding Photos

After 14+ years in the hotel hospitality industry, I’ve pretty much seen it all when it comes to weddings. From helping pick the perfect dinner menu with the bride and groom to drying the nervous tears of the bride seconds before she walks down the aisle, I guess you can say I’ve worn many wedding day hats.

One of the things that I did not have the pleasure of participating in is the photography side of the business. When each bridal party set off in their limos to take their photos, I'd wonder if they were headed to a super Chicago-themed spot downtown, or keeping it local at one the many hidden gems that Rosemont and Des Plaines have to offer. At the time, there were not a ton of options for photo-ops in Rosemont, but the area has come a long way in terms of things to do, restaurants, etc — even in landscaping maintenance. The Village of Rosemont meticulously manicures the grass (seemingly every blade!) and every walking path is well-maintained. This upkeep has meant that Rosemont now offers a range of great photo ops for brides and grooms.

So whether you’re hosting your dream wedding in Rosemont this year, attending as part of a bridal party or simply a guest looking for a great place to take a memorable photo, I’ve got some top locations within walking distance (or a short drive) from Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel.

Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel

I’m going to be a bit partial to this location, for obvious reasons and because well, there are so many hidden nooks and crannies at the hotel that will provide you with a memory for a lifetime.

Let the Art Be Your Backdrop

If you’ve been keeping up with my posts on this blog, you probably know all about my love for the art at the hotel. You can’t miss it since it covers almost every square inch of the sprawling property. If you have the opportunity to schedule some time in the hotel where you and your photographer can walk the space, be sure to bring this list of ideal photo ops along with you.

  • Wesley Kimler’s The Prince – Located in the hotel’s Ballroom pre-function space, this massive 37’ wide painting gives your photos a true art gallery feel.
  • Living Moss Wall – Every guest of the hotel is welcomed by our vibrant living moss wall, which is ideal for adding a pop of color.
  • Falling Rocks – Adjacent to the Living Moss Wall is our falling rock wall, offering a edgier yet urban feel to our photo.

  •  Top Floor of the Loews O'Hare Parking Garage – Now, before you ask yourself if I’m crazy for adding this as a photo-op spot, just take a look at Savannah and Jake’s photo from their session on the roof. Ideal for day or night… and I’m not joking when I say that every bridal party takes a photo up here!

Wander Rosemont

Now if you have the time and transportation on the day of your wedding. Gather your wedding troop and head over to one of these nearby Rosemont / Des Plaines destinations for amazing picturesque options – in no particular order.

Mother Nature Knows Best

  • Monument Park – Located at the intersection of Des Plaines River Road and Higgins Roads, this spot has been a wedding and social function photo-op destination for years. They just recently gave the grounds a little facelift, adding a more modern feel, fresh landscaping and more. Offering up a handful of ponds, gazebos, wildlife and of course the famous waterfalls, this spot has a ton of options for that ideal outdoor backdrop. Note: Additional fees and permits are required. Learn more here.
  • Beck Lake – One of my favorite places to wander on a warm sunny day! Located a 5-minute drive from the hotel at Central and East River Road, the lake is nestled in one of the many Cook County Forest Preserves. Offers a rural and foliage robust landscape for a beautiful photo. If your photographer is up for it, I highly recommend renting a rowboat and heading out on Beck Lake for a super unique water-themed photo op. It will make you feel like you’re in the movie The Notebook! Learn more here.

This is just the beginning of so many great spots to scope out for your big day! My best advice to any bride still deciding on venues is that no matter which you choose, be sure to consider a venue either near or in a more populated area. This way you have a ton of photo ops all within a manageable distance. (There's nothing worse than trucking around with your bridal party while your guests are enjoying cocktail hour, feeling "FOMO," aka Fear of Missing Out on your big day!)
