A Perfect Summer Night in Philadelphia

Summer is in full swing in Philadelphia! And the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection knows how to heat it up in the summer months with outdoor concerts, fun festivals and some of the best eats in the country. Here is our itinerary for a perfect getaway night in Philly.

A Close Up Of A Shelf

                     Treat Yourself

Home base is Loews Philadelphia Hotel – after all, it’s perfectly located to start and end the evening. Plus, it offers a few surprising perks that will add a unique twist to your night out. For instance, last month, Blushington Makeup & Beauty Lounge announced an exclusive partnership with Loews Philadelphia Hotel to offer its highly curated beauty and wellness products in the hotel’s POD Market. Blushington only offers the best in beauty and tests every brand they carry, so we’re pretty confident that their extreme lash mascara will be a perfect pre-dinner enhancement and the deep-sleep pillow spray will be a delightful way to wrap up the evening.

But First, Cocktails

But before anyone even thinks about sleep, it’s time to get this night started! Summer in the city means the return of hard-to-beat specials on food and drinks with Center City Sips. Every Wednesday, from the beginning of June to the end of August, participating bars and restaurants are offering $6 cocktails, $5 wine, $4 beer and half-priced appetizers from 5–7 PM. Swing by Bank and Bourbon for a $6 Urban Sombrero – sauza hornitos, cassis, grenadine, lemon – and a half-priced ham board.

Feeling Jazzy

With a little sustenance in your system, you’re ready to set out for some of Philadelphia’s best. Every Wednesday night from June 6 through September 5, Who Got the Jazz hits the Historic District, reviving a locally loved jazz tribute series. Master jazz musicians and soul vocalists jam out to pay tribute to greats like Nina Simone, Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder. Look out for artists including Suzann Christine, Chill Moody and Brianna Cash to perform jazz, soul and hip-hop fusion at locations like the African American Museum in Philadelphia, the Betsy Ross House, the Philadelphia History Museum at the Atwater Kent, the Hill-Physick House and the Independence Visitor Center.

Experience the Arts

And for a bit more culture, make sure to check out the Philadelphia Art Museum, where every Wednesday is “pay what you wish” Wednesday from 5:00 PM– 8:30 PM. Some of our favorites are Rodin’s bust of Napoleon, Monet’s Footbridge painting and the Giant Three-Way Plug in the Sculpture Garden. Make sure you run the Rocky steps outside to make some room for Pastry Chef Amanda’s signature vanilla doughnuts when you pass back by Bank and Bourbon on your way to bed after your perfect summer night…
