Our Downtown Tucson To-Do List

If a visit to Tucson, Arizona is on your travel bucket-list this year a stop downtown is a must! Known for being a small college town home to The University of Arizona, downtown Tucson is the center of all things hip and happening.

Here’s a list of some of my favorite spots to visit near campus and downtown when I’m in the Old Pueblo.

A Plate Of Food On A Table

Maynards Market & Kitchen

Maynards Market & Kitchen

A downtown Tucson staple, Maynards Market & Kitchen is a great place to visit any time of day. Whether you’re in the area for breakfast to grab a coffee and healthy bite to start your day or for cocktails during happy hour, you’re going to be happy with this choice. Located in the Historic Tucson Train Depot, this trendy restaurant offers both a classic restaurant feel for dinner as well as large outdoor patio right on the other side of the fence from the train tracks. This place fully embraces its unique home and you’ll find hints of industrial decor and even a train stop sign out back. I personally enjoyed their Avocado Toast and can’t wait to make it back for their happy hour wine flights and to browse their extensive wine shop!

The Scented Leaf

Coffee spots are always popular among the college crowd for a cozy place to do some homework and grab some much-needed caffeine. However, I personally am a tea > coffee drinker and made a point to visit this new tea house and lounge near the UofA campus! The Scented Leaf offers a staggering variety of loose leaf teas that made it nearly impossible to choose from, but what got me really excited to pay them a visit was their selection of iced teas on tap. Yes, tea on tap! I went with the classic Tucson prickly pear flavor and could tell from the crazy lines out the door that this is a favorite among UofA students as well, and for good reason.

Hub Restaurant & Ice Creamery

Hub Restaurant & Ice Creamery

Ask any Tucsonan and they’ll tell you a trip downtown is not complete without visiting Tucson staple, The Hub. Downtown you’ll find two locations across the street from each other; one a complete restaurant serving a few ice cream flavors and a separate store with their full selection of sweets. Their ice cream store serves delicious homemade staple flavors like Banana Cream Pie and Nutter Butter but you’ll also come across other unique flavors like Strawberry Tres Leches Cake, Not Your Granny’s Coconut Cake, and Pistachio Orange Blossom. You’ll never be disappointed by stopping in for a quick treat, especially during the summer months!

Happy exploring!
