House & Home: Inside A Dreamy Hotel Floor Designed By Lenny Kravitz
Rocker, songwriter, actor, designer — there isn’t much that Lenny Kravitz can’t do. Lenny and his team at NYC-based Kravitz Design‘s first foray in the Canadian market is a floor at the Bisha Hotel Toronto, club king Charles Khabouth’s boutique downtown hotel. Housed on the seventh floor of this stylish city oasis, the Kravitz Design Floor comprises 13 guest rooms. The standout room is the star-worthy, two-floor Bisha suite (complete with a stairway that guarantees a grand entrance), which perfectly mirrors the musician’s endlessly cool, creative vibe. “I think there is some sense of glamour and being comfortable in my projects,” Lenny says. “But not meaning glitzy, always some kind of sophistication.” Scroll down for a sneak peek inside!
The 2,000-square-foot Bisha Suite is laid out over two floors with a fully-equipped kitchen and a dining table that seats eight. Skull artwork by Alexander McQueen and custom sofas upholstered in velvet add rock star edge, mellowed by hits of brass and black marble.
A handmade metal screen separates the sleeping area. A wraparound sofa upholstered in a plush camel fabric is propped with layers of graphic pillows for a club-like atmosphere. The bathroom houses a standalone tub, while the walls are clad with golden spider marble slabs.
Toronto’s distinctive skyline takes center stage on the private patio outside. Woven furnishings and an outdoor rug define the seating area where pops of orange warm up the graphic black and white scheme.
A privacy screen of evergreens in planters turn this patio into a quiet oasis amidst the city’s soaring towers. An expansive sofa means plenty of room to stretch out when hosting a crowd of A-list friends.
The starting concept for the Kravitz Design Floor was warm, dark, intimate and cozy. The design took inspiration from the glamour and sophistication of the 1970s, seen in the Alexander Suite’s black oak-lined entryway and metallic accents.
In the Yves Suite bedroom, a chic patterned wallpaper and persimmon sofa inject warmth and creates a layered look.
