Loews Coronado Bay Resort Introduces “Flavor By Loews Hotels,” A New Culinary Experience Showcasing Hyper-Local Flavor

Resort sources the best local food and beverage partners so guests can taste San Diego’s homegrown flavor right on property

SAN DIEGO, CA - JANUARY 17, 2018

Loews Coronado Bay Resort introduces Flavor by Loews Hotels, an innovative food and beverage experience serving up the best of San Diego’s local flavor so that guests can dine like a local within the four walls of the hotel. Rolling out across the Loews portfolio, Flavor by Loews Hotels has now been unveiled at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, tempting guests with hyper-local flavors that capture the essence of the city as well as the heart behind local food & beverage producers. Loews Hotels is one of the first hotel brands to embrace local partnerships on a national scale, satisfying guests’ desires to immerse themselves in the destinations – bite-by-bite and sip-by-sip. Flavor by Loews Hotels at Loews Coronado Bay Resort is built upon this vision and highlights partnerships with artisan food & beverage vendors who have inspiring stories to share. They include:

  • Catalina Offshore has been offering the freshest seafood in San Diego for over 40 years so it’s no surprise that their “local catch of the day” is hooking guests in Crown Landing. Catalina Offshore Products Seafood Education and Nutrition Center houses its fish market which is led by trusted fishmonger Tommy Gomes. In Baja, most fishing is done with hand lines from small Panga boats to save the environment and preserve natural resources. Fresh seafood is purchased directly from reputable fishermen who are trained in the strict handling procedures necessary to preserve optimum quality. Each guest that orders the local catch in Crown Landing will know where the fish was caught, the fisherman that caught it, the name of the boat and when it docked.
  • Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. creates treats so delicious they won Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. Their organic, natural and incredibly delicious sweets are available for guests at Silver Strand Exchange. Owners, Donna and Elaine started their company in early 2007, as two friends who had cooked & baked for as long as they can recall. They use top quality ingredients including local butter, cage-free local chicken eggs, local organic field lavender, whole wheat flour, flaxseed & wheat germ, farmers market berries, French nut & fruit purees, and single-sourced and sustainable chocolates.
  • You & Yours Distilling Co. is led by San Diego’s first female distiller, Laura Johnson. Their gin and vodka are served in Cays Lounge and the Silver Strand Exchange Bar and can be delivered to the comforts of guestrooms through in-room dining. The Y&Y Sunday Gin is a modern take on American-style gin with fresh citrus, juniper and an elegant floral finish creating an elevated, highly drinkable gin. Launched in March of 2017, You & Yours Distilling Co. is a full production distillery, tasting room and event space, complete with a world-class cocktail program in downtown San Diego.
  • Mike Hess Brewing produces high quality, unique and distinctive beers that are served on tap throughout the resort’s bars and restaurants, or guests can enjoy an “Open Mike Can” in their guestroom through in-room dining. Mike Hess, a former financial planner, and his brother Greg created the first production nano-brewery in San Diego. Mike Hess Brewing quickly built a solid reputation for great beers and a unique brewery and tasting room experience. The Mike Hess Brewing Odyssey blog, was started in 2009, and has become the de facto go-to manual for opening a nano-brewery globally. It is also the most comprehensive listing of nanos in the country, outside of the Brewer’s Association’s records.
“Living in America’s Finest City definitely has its perks and our incredible food & beverage offerings are at the top of the list.  We are very excited to offer Flavor San Diego to our guests. From the freshest seafood to innovate cocktails, you don’t have to scour the city for the best, we’ll bring them to you.” says Eric Jenkins, Director of Food & Beverage at Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Flavor by Loews Hotels will complete its launch across the brand by spring 2018. For more information on Flavor by Loews Hotels visit www.loewshotels.com/flavor.
