Fifty-two weeks a year, there exciting and unpredictable things to do in Hollywood. Our hotel is located just steps from the center of the action, giving you easy access to the Sunset Strip, Staples Center and the Hollywood Bowl. Below are few of our favorite annual events—but for more information on things that happen only once a year here, don’t hesitate to contact our concierge.

Tournament of Roses (January)

For more than a century, float designers have been trotting out their most ambitious work and thousands of spectators have crowded the sidewalks of Pasadena to watch the spectacle. The Rose Parade leads up to the Rose Bowl, one of college football’s most prestigious bowls.

The Academy Awards (February)

Affectionately known as the Oscars, the biggest event in show business happens each February at the Dolby Theatre, adjacent to our hotel. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences names its yearly award winners at the ceremony, handing out Oscars to the best and brightest of the film industry.

Los Angeles Marathon (March)

Angelinos and visitors from around the world gather in Downtown L.A. each March for the Los Angeles Marathon, a 26.2-mile endurance race. The course starts in the gritty urban environment of downtown before passing through Hollywood in the shadow of the hills and heading to the Pacific Coast in Santa Monica.

Los Angeles Film Festival (June)

The capital of America’s film industry puts on what is considered the nation’s top film festival each summer. The best in new American and international cinema comes to Downtown L.A., and attendees are given access to critically acclaimed filmmakers, industry pros and emerging industry talent.

One of the largest LGBT gatherings in the nation is SoCal’s OUTFEST. The festival celebrates L.A.’s vibrant LGBT culture with fun receptions and parties and informative discussion panels and family programs.

AFI Fest (November)

Los Angeles’ longest-running film festival features tight competition between new filmmakers and serves as a showcase for established masters in many different genres.

DWP Light Festival (December)

The Griffith Park section of Hollywood gets a bit of holiday cheer each December when Crystal Springs Drive becomes the area’s most impressive light display. The lights, which are hung on Thanksgiving weekend, can be viewed best by driving by slowly or walking.

Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade (December)

Enjoy the warm weather that makes Southern California an appealing year-round destination by attending the holiday boat parade in Marina del Rey. Decorated boats circle the main channel and compete for prizes before a grand finale fireworks display.
