Where to load up on carbs ahead of the Boston Marathon

As the 126th Boston Marathon day sprints toward the starting line, it’s time to start thinking about where to fuel up the night before the long run. While Boston’s stand-out red sauce joints dish pasta every day, this yearly celebration of all-things-carbs brings out the best in lots of restaurants across town, eagerly offering carb-laden specials on the eve of the big race.

From Japanese maki filled with tempura sweet potato to housemade rigatoni and burrata-stuffed ravioli to all-you-can-eat pasta specials, Boston rolls out the red carpet for this pre-race dining ritual.

Pasta at Precinct Kitchen + Bar
Located in a former police station in Back Bay’s Loews hotel, Precinct Kitchen and Bar is adding spring tortellini with sun-dried tomato pesto ($22); rigatoni bolognese ($22); and lemon-garlic shrimp linguini ($28) to its menu the night before the big run. If a taste of Boston is more the speed that night, grab a lobster roll. Reservations are available here. When: Sunday, April 17, 2022 Where: Inside the Loews Boston Hotel at 154 Berkeley Street, Boston.
