Rare Bird Preserves

Founder Elizabeth Madden knows how to finesse seasonal fruit. Adding other ‘wow’ ingredients, like herbs and chocolate, she creates that culinary finishing touch you never knew you needed (but do): preserves. She uses French and British preserving techniques, and naturally extracted pectin, for creations like strawberry-rhubarb and fig-Earl Grey. Let us crack open a jar for you in all the food outlets and incorporated in banquet menus.

They look as good as they taste. Founder Heather Johnston designs each of her decadent treats with unique shapes, colors and textures to excite the senses. Since 1926 the Filbert family has been crafting old-fashioned draft root beer. Now in its fourth generation, the family keeps the tradition alive and well in the original Bridgeport neighborhood brewery and has expanded to 29 flavors of soda, too.
