Spice up your life – Angeleno style. A dash of owner Oscar Ochoa’s locally adored chili sauces will do the trick. He makes them in small batches of 25-75 in Boyle Heights, just east of downtown L.A., combing flavors from his Mexican heritage (such as Agave nectar) and ingredients grown right here along the coast (like Christopher Ranch heirloom garlic). His creations include vinegar-based hot sauces, hot mustards, hot chili oils, chili pastes, pickled chilies, and home-style salsas. Taste the zing for yourself at BarBelle and Ocean & Vine, where his sauces heat up our “Locals Only” cocktails and regular menu dishes.

Black Market Gelato & Sorbet

Guilt-free ice cream? Yes, please. Black Market has the answer with locally-made desserts that contain no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Owner Zbynek (“Spin”) Mlynarik – who happens to be a former pro Austrian tennis player – models his recipes after traditional Italian gelatos. They’re creamy and decadent, and also happen to be free of gluten, soy and eggs. Indulge in one poolside at the pool bar; the caramelized banana flavor was created exclusively for Loews Santa Monica. You can also find it in Bar Belle, Ocean and Vine and through In-Room Dining.

Tequila may signal good times and revelry, but the story of Angelisco Tequila is one of heart and soul. It began with a group of five bartenders who opened their own Oaxacan restaurant and next dreamed of creating a premium tequila free of additives and finishing agents. The Angelisco Tequila team found their ideal ingredients in the Blue Weber Agaves grown in the Highlands of Jalisco, where they partnered with a family of growers who have been nurturing agave for more than 100 years. A distinct double distilling process and 72-hour open-air fermentation prove that patience is the key to producing the quality tequila the team had envisioned. The result—Angelisco Tequila’s premium, small-batch tequilas—delivers a precise balance of sweetness and a clean finish; a refreshing taste that stands tall in the world of spirits.
