Almost two decades ago, two art receptions that happened to be held at the same time spilled out onto the sidewalks of West Street in Annapolis on the first Sunday of every month during the summer. The following year, two more businesses joined in the event, and the year after that, the sidewalk event moved into the street. A tradition was born!

From Then to Now

Since then, West Street has been closed on all First Sundays from May to October so that over 100 vendors can showcase their arts and crafts to thousands of visitors attending First Sunday Arts Festival.

In addition to art displays, First Sundays are filled with free concerts and entertainment so there is something for everyone to enjoy. There are also food trucks on hand as you work up an appetite shopping and taking in all of the culture.

Some of Our Favorites

Dogs are welcome, and some of our favorite vendors are the pet-related ones. After all, Loews Loves Pets! Check out:

And make sure to either grab a bite at the BAROAK table on West Street, or make your way down to the restaurant at Loews Annapolis Hotel for a great selection of Maryland-inspired fare and the best hand-crafted burgers in town.

The All-Important Logistics

The First Sunday Arts Festivals are conveniently located in downtown Annapolis on West Street and Calvert Street, where parking is a breeze. There are five parking garages located on Calvert Street, and the Loews Hotel garage on West Street is located right next to the festival.

Admission to the First Sunday Arts Festivals is free, so bring your friends and family to spend a day out on the town. First Sunday Arts Festivals for the remainder of the 2018 season are on July 1, August 5, September 2, October 7, November 4 and a special bonus festival on the first Sunday of December called the Annapolis Chocolate Binge Festival.

See you there!
