Chicago

Deciding where to visit each summer has been relatively easy and fun for me over the years, considering it’s generally just for myself or with friends. However, for those families with a kid or two (or more), in tow, planning summer vacation can understandably be a little more daunting. Trying to decide on a family-focused destination is generally the first step and can be a bit deceiving. Where do we go? What places have direct flights? Do these destinations have kid-focused hotels and amenities?

Unlike a trip to Disney, Chicago isn’t one of those places that you would automatically think to bring the kids. But our city has come a long way over the last five years when it comes to kid-friendly activities, sightseeing and dining. Most hotels and businesses are now crafting hyper-focused offers geared towards making family travel planning effortless.

One of Loews Chicago‘s most popular packages with families — especially those looking for a deal in addition to activities that will keep the kids occupied — is our super fun, educational and interactive Urban Explorer Package.

This package is designed to keep kids entertained while navigating the city’s top tourist spots — complete with the fuel to keep kids energized during a downtown Chicago Scavenger Hunt.

The “explorer kit” comes stocked with a junior traveler’s biggest survival needs: from backpacks and water bottles to sunglasses and compasses. The interactive citywide scavenger hunt is a great way for both parents and kids to explore all that Chicago has to offer this summer. Kids will also receive journals with colored pens so they can recap their adventures and share with their friends back home.

Nothing says “hospitality” like having a game plan already prepared, and with this package, and the Urban Explorer Scavenger Hunt, we’ve done all the hard work for you. Plus, how cute is this fully stocked Urban Explorer Bag?

Travel Insider Tip: Challenge the kids to visit every stop on the scavenger hunt. Each stop has a clue leading to either the location/building or an attraction’s history, offering up a great educational experience for the kiddos. We’ll give you a head start: the below photo is one of the scavenger hunt stops. Can you name this famous fountain?

After a day with our Urban Explorer package, you’ll all end up back at the hotel with a giant smile and tuckered out kids.
