Cool Down with Summer Desert Cocktails

Along with the summer heat comes the perfect opportunity to hit the pool and spend the day relaxing with a cold drink in your hand. Here are just a few of our favorite adult beverages to enjoy at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort as the temperatures rise in Tucson.

                     Sonoran Sunset Aperol Spritz

Sonoran Sunset Aperol Spritz

– ½ ounce of Solerno Blood orange liquor
– ½ ounce of Aperol aperitif
– 2 ounces Prosecco
– ½ ounce of local prickly pear syrup
– Splash of sparkling water
– Splash of orange juice

  1. Combine Solerno, Aperol, prickly pear syrup, and ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake to dissolve syrup.
  2. Pour into white wine glass with fresh ice. Add Prosecco, sparkling water, and splash of orange juice on top.
  3. Garnish with an orange twist.

                      Prickly Pear Margarita

Prickly Pear Margarita

– 1 ¼ ounce of Herradura silver
– ½ ounce of triple sec
– ½ ounce fresh lime juice
– ¾ ounce of local prickly pear syrup

1. Combine Herradura silver with triple sec, prickly pear syrup, lime juice, and ice in a shaker. Shake to dissolve the syrup.

2. Pour it into a salted rim rocks glass with fresh ice.

3. Garnish with a fresh lime.

– ¾ ounce of Malibu coconut rum
– ¾ ounce of Cruzan mango rum
– ½ ounce pineapple juice
– ½ ounce orange juice
– float of Midori

  1. In a shaker combine Malibu rum, Cruzan mango, pineapple juice, and orange juice.
  2. Shake really well.
  3. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass.
  4. Finish with a Midori float on top.

 Canyon Colada

Canyon Colada

– 1 ¼ ounce of Bacardi Superior rum
– 2 pineapple slices
– coconut shavings
– Splash of prickly pear syrup

  1. In a blender combine pineapples, coconut shaving, prickly pear syrup, and Bacardi superior rum.
  2. Blend well.
  3. Pour it in a white wine glass and garnish it with a pineapple.

Pama Mojito

Pama Mojito

– 1 ¼ ounce of Bacardi Silver rum
– ½ ounce of pomegranate juice
– ½ ounce of fresh lime juice
– ¾ ounce of local prickly pear syrup
– Splash of sparkling water
– Splash of orange juice

  1. Muddle three lime wedges, and a few mint sprigs in a shaker.
  2. Combine simple, Bacardi silver rum, and pomegranate juice into the shaker
  3. Shake until syrup is dissolved
  4. Pour into a highball with fresh ice and top it off with sprite.
  5. Garnish with either a lime wheel or fresh mint sprig.
