Atlanta's Dog Days

Do you love long walks on the Atlanta BeltLine and delicious treats under a vibrant Atlanta sunset? Have you struggled to find the right company to enjoy them with? Perhaps you’ve been looking for your new best friend in all the wrong places.

LifeLine Animal Project may have the answer. The organization works to end the euthanasia of healthy and treatable dogs and cats in metro Atlanta shelters and has some creative ways of doing so. Earlier this year, they created dating profiles for a handful of their adoptable pups to help find their perfect match. With their Weekend Warriors program, you can skip that awkward first date and enjoy a weekend-long staycation with a shelter pup.

Whether you’re out exploring Atlanta with your dog or getting to know a potential new addition, the number of dog-friendly Atlanta spots are abundant. Explore some of LifeLine’s favorites with your special four-legged friend.

The Fun-Loving Pup

  • Fetch – If pets had country clubs, I imagine they would look a lot like Fetch, a full-service dog park bar located in Old 4th Ward. Enjoy a bite to eat as you sip coffee, cocktails, beer or wine, while your pup makes a few new friends. This membership-based facility features outdoor TVs, cooling stations, a dog bath area and staffed “bark rangers” to ensure all dogs are getting along nicely. Be sure to bring your vaccination records; no dogs are allowed in the park without updated vaccines.
  • Lost Dog Tavern – Get unleashed at this pet-friendly honky-tonk bar in Buckhead. It’s the perfect spot for rainy days, as it's pet-friendly both indoors and out. Visit on a Friday during Yappy Hour and 10% of your purchases will benefit LifeLine.

  • Dancing Goats Coffee – Get your day started off on the right foot with some rest and relaxation at one of Dancing Goats Coffee's three Atlanta locations . Even though your pups can’t enjoy coffee, they’ll love the cup of whipped cream available upon request.
  • New Realm Brewery – New Realm Brewery is an ideal spot to end your day of walking the BeltLine or exploring Old 4th. Here, you can enjoy refreshing brews while the sun sets over the picturesque Atlanta skyline. Be sure to mind the weather as only the first-floor patio is pet-friendly.
  • Henry’s – Named after the owner’s dog, Henry’s is one of Midtown’s most pet-friendly patios and it happens to be located right across from Loews Atlanta. After devouring their parmesan fries, it's a relaxing spot to take a quick power nap before spending the day walking around Piedmont Park.

Not only are most of the boutiques in the Virginia Highland’s neighborhood pet-friendly, they have plenty of champagne to accompany your day of shopping. Spend the day exploring a few frequented by LifeLine: Judith Bright JewelryDakota J’sPaperSourceUrban Cottage and Vernacular.

As you can see, Atlanta has abundant options for animal lovers. Enjoy exploring with your favorite pup.
