Cafe Amelie | Loews New OrleansCafé Amelie

This lush and enchanting courtyard sits nestled in the heart of the French Quarter on Royal Street. The attached carriage house (which seats patrons who prefer an indoor setting) is part of the home of wealthy French banker Michael Heine. Built in 1836, Heine here resided with his wife Amelie Miltonberger, for whom the restaurant is named, as well as their daughter, Alice Heine, who became the first American Princess of Monaco at the age of 22. Elegant and romantic in history and atmosphere, this café offers elevated fare with a Cajun flair. And of course, the outdoor space is welcoming to pups and humans alike.

George Rodrigue | Loews New OrleansGeorge Rodrigue Gallery

The late George Rodrigue’s mastery of color and passion for his Cajun culture comes through every piece in this gallery. The Blue Dog Series responsible for his worldwide fame was inspired by a Cajun legend of a werewolf or “loup-garou” but also modeled after his own dog, Tiffany. Leashed or carried pets are welcome inside the gallery located on Royal Street if your canine friend shares your eye for the arts.
