Montreal

Summer, summer, summer. Even if it’s always too short, we’re still excited about being tickled by the sun! Those glorious summer months are the perfect time to try something new and make amazing memories. Besides sunbathing, walking around in cute sun dresses and letting the sand run through your toes (if you are lucky enough to be at the beach), there are several other fun ideas to add to your summer bucket list in Montreal.

The Village Au Pied-Du-Courant

@piedducourant

One of my favorite summer spot in Montreal, the Village is an urban living lab for the experimentation and development of new practices in design, entrepreneurship and the arts. Built anew every year by a collective effort, the project is made possible thanks to the participation of dozens of teams of designers and the support of countless collaborators.

This reinvented public space is the perfect place for tons of summer activities. From yoga classes to outdoor movie nights, to enjoying Saturday dance nights with DJs or amazing views of the International Fireworks Competition (more info below), you must take a peek at this awesome urban beach this summer.

Mount Royal Tam-Tams

@Lily_luyao_wang

Grab a picnic and feel the beat of Montreal’s Tam-tams under the sun. This rendezvous — an informal drum circle with thousands of participants — takes place at the Mount-Royal every Sunday of the summer   It is quite the scene. If you are looking for a more bohemian side of Montreal, you should definitely check it out.  Everyone comes together enjoying the sunshine, nature and the drums.

International Montreal Fireworks Competition

@audrey.f.l

Watch the city sky light up this summer! World-renowned companies representing their respective countries are invited to participate in this fireworks competition, recognized as one of the most prestigious in the world. Montrealers look forward to this event every summer. The best spot to enjoy the show is without a doubt La Ronde. However, there are a few free spots with a good view. I like to try some of them throughout the summer. Here are some of my favorites:

First Fridays of the Month

 @cuisinederue

Your inner foodie will love this Montreal street food tradition. As indicated by the name, this eventakeske place every first Friday of the month at Olympic Park’s Esplanade Financière Sun Life. It’s the place to be for a taste of Montreal’s best street food. From tacos to raclette, dumplings to pulled pork or lobster sandwiches, from tartar to spare ribs and ice cream: your taste buds will love it! And don’t forget to pair your meal with a cold beer or a glass of privately imported wine.
