Spring in the Sonoran Desert

You can't beat the spring weather in Tucson which makes it the ideal time of year to get outside and explore the Sonoran desert! Here are just a few of our favorite ways to take advantage of the sunny 80 degree days this spring at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

If visiting the desert southwest is a new experience for you, a trip to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is highly recommended… just ask any local. And while it’s called a “museum,” you’ll be thrilled to find out it is so much more than that, combining the educational aspect of a traditional museum experience with the hands-on and wildlife elements of a zoo. But be prepared to walk, the museum is primarily outdoors consisting of a winding path connecting several themed habitats like Mountain Woodland, Desert Grasslands, and Cay Canyon. But you can always head indoors for a break from the sun to explore their Aquarium, a beautiful Aviary, and even a Stingray Touch experience.

Sabino Canyon

If hiking tops your Tucson to-do list look no further than Sabino Canyon. Located just up the road from Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, Sabino Canyon is the go-to location recreational area for locals and tourists alike and is a perfect morning outing for families. Hop on the tram up for a narrated ride to the end and enjoy a scenic walk back complete with several stops that include picnic areas and even flowing water at stop #8!

Window Walk Nature Trail

After heading out for a morning adventure, come back for a quick nap at the resort and then wander around the grounds to learn more about the desert landscape that we call home. Our Window Walk Nature Trail begins right outside the lobby and an easy stroll through the guided path will lead you to our 80-foot natural waterfall located at the back of the resort. Along the way you'll learn about the plants and wildlife that inhabit the Sonoran desert with informational signs pointing out some of the real life critters you might spot during your explorations. Don't forget to bring your camera for several scenic photo opportunities to document your adventures!

Pool Day

No visit to Tucson is complete without a relaxing day by the pool. Lucky for us, the sun is shining nearly year-round in Tucson, perfect for working on the perfect tan. Arrive early to the main pool for your choice of seats and enjoy the quiet, relaxing sounds of nature as the desert begins to wake up. And when your stomach begins to rumble there's no need to leave your chair to enjoy a bite to eat, let the friendly servers from Bill's Grill bring you a light and refreshing lunch and a frozen prickly pear lemonade - a poolside essential!

Don't let the sun going down stop the fun. Join us March 9-April 11th for Spring Break as our poolside fun continues with Friday Fiesta Glow in the Dark Pool Parties (featuring dive-in movies, popcorn, popsicles, and $5 margarita specials) and Saturday Disco DJ Pool Parties (with a build-your-own churro sundae stations, pool games, and a sunset tequila toast)!

Book your Spring Break Poolside Package and we'll see you in Tucson!
