Best places to see holiday lights in New York, Philadelphia and Kansas City

Say Ho Ho Ho to the holidays this season

Tis the season for holiday lights. Here are some of our favorite spots for window displays and holiday lights in New York, Philadelphia and Kansas City.

Bright Lights, Big City

Known for some of the most extravagant window displays in all of the world, lots of the most worthwhile ones just happen to be steps from the Loews Regency New York Hotel’s doors. This year, the iconic Saks Fifth Avenue boasts over 60,000 LEDs that will be synchronized to a medley of Elton John tunes; and neighboring department store, Bloomingdale’s, which celebrated its 150th anniversary earlier this year has windows inspired by the season. Other favorites include Macy’s, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom’s, among others to enjoy the festive displays.

In addition to window displays, there are tons of places to see holiday lights around New York City. Our concierge team recommends venturing beyond the Upper East Side to visit the Bronx Zoo for their annual holiday light show that runs through January.

Sparkle in the City of Brotherly Love

While staying at the historic Loews Philadelphia Hotel, you’ll surely get in the spirit with so many places to see holiday lights.  One of the most time-honored Philadelphia tradition is the Macy’s Christmas Light Show, ideally located just steps from the hotel’s doors. Running since 1956, offers shows for all to enjoy daily. The 100,000 lights are paired with the famous Wannamaker Organ, one of the largest in the world. Other stops include the LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo which are home to more than 1 million holiday lights and lastly, travelers and locals alike can’t miss the Visit Philadelphia Holiday Tree at City Hall that sparkles until January 1.

Dazzle in Kansas City

With so many spots to see in KC, we’ve narrowed down our favorites here. The first stop is the historic Union Station, which is a historic landmark and a destination all year round. Beyond the big beautiful tree, visitors and travelers can enjoy the “Holiday Reflections” experience filled with lights, festive décor and activities. The second stop is The Country Club Plaza Lights. A local tradition for more than 90 years, Plaza Lights is a 15-block holiday spectacle on the famed Country Club Plaza. Featuring thousands of glimmering, jewel-colored lights that accentuate every dome, tower and window of the Spanish-inspired shopping district. In addition to the lights, admire the store’s window displays. The last stop but certainly not the least, admire the lobby at Loews Kansas City Hotel. Complete with a giant tree and decorations throughout the lobby and restaurant.
