A Peachy Pet-Friendly Guide to Atlanta

Let's face it — traveling with the furriest members of our family can sometimes be a burden. Finding places to accommodate you and your pet can be stressful, and the fear of glaring side-eyes can bring unnecessary strain to your planning process. Despite the joys your pup may bring, it sometimes seems easier to leave them at home.

The good news? Atlantans are a dog-loving bunch. Exploring the city — which was recently named the seventh most pet-friendly city in the country — has never been easier for animal-lovers. From the moment you arrive at Loews Atlanta until you embark on your trip back home, you'll find endless options to make traveling with your pup a breeze.

Skip the dog-sitter, pack the leash and bring your pets along for the ride. It's time to discover Atlanta with your best friend in tow!

Explore the Outdoors

When staying in Midtown, you don’t have to sacrifice outdoor space for the conveniences of city living. From picturesque parks to engaging walking trails and luxury dog parks, you will find plenty of places to reconnect with nature:

  • Piedmont Park: Where better to get some fresh air than in Atlanta’s backyard, located steps from the hotel. This 185-acre park offers picturesque views, walking trails, a dog park and plenty of excellent people-watching.
  • The Beltline: This pet-friendly walking and biking trail is a dream for urban explorers and pet owners alike. With countless dining options, parks and art installments, the BeltLine is a great way to explore the best corners of the city.
  • Fetch: If pets had country clubs, I imagine they would look a lot like Fetch, a short drive away. Mingle with locals over food and drink while your pup makes new friends. This full-service dog park is equipped with cooling stations, a dog bath area and staffed “bark rangers” to ensure all dogs get along nicely. Be sure to bring your vaccination records; no dogs are allowed in the park without up-to-date vaccines.

Savor Local Fare

We believe pets are a central part of the family and deserve a seat at the dinner table, too. While Atlanta is home to countless pet-friendly restaurant and bars, some cater to dogs more than others. Which restaurants roll out the red carpet for pets? A full list of businesses will be provided to you upon your arrival, but we must admit we have a few favorites, including:

  • Publico: It isn’t just the wonderful Latin-American fusion fare, great patio or laid-back neighborhood vibe that makes us recommend this neighborhood restaurant. This dog-friendly spot has an entire menu for their furry patrons, and it’s located only three blocks from the hotel.
  • Henry’s: Named after the owner’s dog, Henry’s is one of Midtown’s most pet-friendly patios and it happens to be located right across from Loews Atlanta. It’s a relaxing spot for your pup to take a quick power nap as you devour their Parmesan fries. Then, you can spend the day walking around Piedmont Park together.
  • New Realm Brewery: Treat yourself to an ice-cold local brew following an afternoon stroll down the Atlanta BeltLine. From the hotel to the brewery, you're looking at a 2-mile walk each way. Their outdoor spaces, beer garden and patio are perfect for dogs and the brewery has one of our favorite city views.

That settles it, right? Bring the pup. Dogs are man's best friend, after all. Shouldn't we be theirs, too?
