Splash Into Summer: It's Pool Time

Time to celebrate: it's officially summer. At last, it's the season of sunshine and ice cream and hours spent in or by the pool. And, if there's one thing we do well at Loews Hotels, it's a good pool scene — one that's perfect for everyone in the family. Ready to cool off? Here's a peek at some of our best pools for family vacations around North America.

Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

Universal Orlando Resort

The beauty of staying at one of our on-site hotels at Universal Orlando Resort is, of course, close proximity to the theme parks, where the family can spend the day taking heart-pounding rides and checking out entire new worlds. Then, when you're done with the thrill-seeking and feel like cooling off, you don't have to go any further than the pool at your resort of choice. From waterslides at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort to the zero-entry sandy beach at  Loews Royal Pacific Resort, you'll find spacious pools and pool decks to please everyone in the family — each with delicious poolside menus to fuel your day in the sun (or shade).

Plus, this summer (weather permitting), Loews Portofino Bay Hotel is hosting a family-friendly poolside activity called “Glow Bash at the Beach Pool.” The event takes place after sundown and includes complimentary glow-in-the-dark glow sticks, necklaces and eyeglasses, plus a wildly popular foam pit in the kiddie pool. Pool time is a prerequisite for any visit to South Beach, and the revamped pool deck at Loews Miami has everything you need. That includes zero-entry pool sides to make it safe and easy for little ones, and pop fountains to make it fun. Complimentary sunscreen, swim diapers and pool toys are available at the towel hut, and there are lawn games to play poolside, including cornhole, foosball and life-sized chess. If you take advantage of the SOBE Kids Club, the pool and beach both play a part in the day's activities, with scavenger hunts and raft races. Mom and Dad can enjoy Family Happy Hour at Nautilus, as well as passed pool amenities. (Kids love the mango mousse cones, and who can blame them?)

A Body Of Water

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort

Exploring the Arizona desert almost demands time to cool off in the pool. For a sneak peek of what that looks like at Loews Ventana Canyon, click here to see some of the ways our guests have curated their pool days. This summer is a great time to visit Tucson, too, as the resort recently added two cabanas to the main pool. These luxurious retreats include a table, lounge chairs, couch seating, HDTV, ceiling fan, safe, a fridge stocked with welcome amenities, a complimentary fruit plate and food service available from Bills Grill.

Loews Coronado Bay Resort

The year-round sunny San Diego weather makes almost any day of the year the perfect pool day, but summer is especially fun by the water at Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Moms and dads can enjoy delicious So-Cal flavors from the poolside menu (including local craft beers and refreshing margaritas) and kids can swim, paddle, and splash about to their heart's content. The best part? There are three pools to choose from, and families also have access to the services of a poolside concierge.

"Pool or beach?" It's a common dilemma in the summer, but at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, there's no need to choose just one. If the kids are all about pool time, you can hit the two-level pool deck and indulge them with a cone of their favorite ice cream. Meanwhile, you can kick back on a lounger and enjoy views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The hotel's poolside pampering includes cooling Evian Mist, chilled fruit and tropical smoothies.

A Pool Next To A Body Of Water

Swim in the City, Too

You don't have to be on the coast to enjoy pool time. If your summer travels take you through the city, an indoor or rooftop pool might be just what you need to cool off after a day of urban exploration. In Toronto, you can enjoy stunning views of the city from the rooftop pool at Bisha Hotel & Residences. And at Loews Hollywood Hotel, the fifth-floor outdoor pool puts you at the heart of the LA action, with views of the neighborhood that include the Hollywood Sign.

Indoor pools are a great option for families, too (no sunburn!), and you can take advantage of them at Loews New Orleans HotelLoews Philadelphia Hotel and Loews Chicago Hotel — where you can bring the kids to float in the water and take in a family-friendly flick at the pool's summer Saturday "Dive-in Movies."
