Where the Chefs Eat and Drink in Miami
The biggest celebrity chefs in the world descend on Miami for South Beach Wine & Food Festival this week, and they’ll be busy hosting cooking demos and whipping up festival bites — but where do they stop to eat for themselves while they’re here?
For some insider recommendations, we spoke to several Miami chefs, including our very own Loews Miami Beach Hotel Executive Chef Frederic Delaire and the Executive Chef of our signature restaurant Lure Fishbar, Josh Capon.
So whether you’re looking for something high-end or a hidden gem while you’re in town, here’s where to eat (and drink), according to the chefs who know our culinary scene best.

Upland (South Beach)
For fine dining, I really like Upland here in South Beach. The food is simple, clean and well executed.
Basilic Vietnamese Grill (North Miami Beach)
I have always been a fan of Vietnamese cuisine. I found out about this nice Vietnamese restaurant here in Miami two years ago. It’s called Basilic Vietnamese Grill, and they have amazing pho soups.
Lettuce & Tomato (North Miami Beach)
I really like gastropub food when it is well done. This restaurant located in North Miami is a hidden gem. My favorite dish there is the tuna truffle.
Soho Beach House (Mid Beach)
I am not a huge brunch guy, but one I really enjoyed is the brunch at Soho Beach House. The brunch takes place in the Art Deco lobby of the hotel. Great food selection, vibrant — very South Beach.
Stiltsville Fish Bar (South Beach)
For fun casual seafood, I really enjoy Stiltsville. It’s in a great location on South Beach, a bit away from the craziness. The ambiance is great, and I love the concept.

KYU (Wynwood)
KYU is amazing and has some of the best food in Miami. Chef Michael Lewis put something together that’s very special and offers a true dining experience.
Komodo (Brickell)
Komodo by Dave Grutman has more than just a great scene — the quality of the food backs it up and makes it a true dining destination in Miami. I am looking forward to checking out Grutman’s newer restaurants Planta and Swan as well.
Rosetta Bakery (South Beach)
Rosetta Bakery right down the street from the Loews is great anytime of the day, especially for breakfast or lunch. They have incredible breads, sandwiches, pizzas and pastries.
Beaker & Gray (Wynwood)
Also in Wynwood, Beaker & Gray is excellent. Chef Brian Nasajon used to work for me, and I am really proud of what he is doing at his place.
Le Sirenuse (Surfside)
Le Sirenuse is one the prettiest places to have a drink. Then head to Thomas Keller’s Surf Club Restaurant for dinner. Perfect 1-2 punch!

By far the best tacos in Miami, and my favorite lunch spot on the beach for day drinking.
Stanzione 87 (Brickell)
I love Neapolitan-style pizza and in Miami it’s hard to find. Stanzione 87 throws it down. Franco Stanzione is a legend.
Edge Steak & Bar (Brickell)
Aaron Brooks knows seasonality and I value that. Super cool fact: Brooks sources a lot of his ingredients from local farms and it reflects in his plates. Definitely my go-to spot if I’m craving red meat.
