The Best Annual Events Boston Has to Offer

In Boston—often called America’s most walkable city—every season gives Bostonians a wonderful reason to take to the streets for special events the whole family can enjoy. From the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the spring to the spectacular 4th of July fireworks to First Night on December 31st—the Boston events calendar has something for everyone.

Truck Day (early February)

In this annual tradition, Boston fans cheer the Red Sox equipment truck as it departs for the Sox spring training grounds in Florida. The date changes each year, so check to be sure you have the right day.

St. Patrick's Day Parade (March)

Winding its way through the streets of South Boston, this parade draws huge crowds in one of the most Irish cities in America.

Boston Marathon (3rd Monday of April)

Beginning in Hopkinton and finishing outside the Boston Public Library, the prestigious Boston Marathon is one of the world’s best-known road racing events.

Pop Goes the Fourth (July 4)

Enjoy an inspiring concert by the Boston Pops accompanied by a dazzling fireworks show over the Charles River.

First Night (December 31)

First held as an alternative way of celebrating New Year’s Eve, First Night allows the city’s young, innovative artists to perform on indoor and outdoor stages.
