Festival of Nations (May)

Twin Cities Jazz Festival (June)

One of the largest events in the Upper Midwest, the jazz fest attracts over 30,000 people to downtown Saint Paul’s Mears Park each year. More info

Twin Cities Pride Festival (June)

The annual Pride Festival and Parade celebrates the area’s LGBT community with live music, shows and exhibitors in Minneapolis’ Loring Park. More info

Basilica Block Party (July)

For 20 years, this celebration outside the Basilica of Saint Mary has drawn crowds who enjoy the great food and live music from local and national acts. More info

Minnesota Fringe Festival (August)

More than 1,000 artists, including actors, directors, dancers and playwrights, present their works over 11 days. More info

Minnesota State Fair (August)

Send off summer with a great American institution, the state fair. The Minnesota State Fair runs for 12 days, concluding on Labor Day. Expect big-name acts, great fair food and of course, the region’s best agriculture and animals on display. More info



Oktoberfests (September & October)

Tributes to German food and culture take place all over Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

Twin Cities Marathon (October)

It’s been called “the most beautiful urban marathon in America.” Run or walk the course from downtown Minneapolis to the finish line near the State Capitol grounds in Saint Paul. More info



Lighting of Rice Park (November)

The lighting of more than 20,000 lights on a 50-foot Christmas tree is the center of this festival kickoff to the holidays in Rice Park, Saint Paul.

Winter Carnival (January)

They call it the “coolest celebration on earth,” featuring ice sculpting, a parade, hot air balloon rides and a jazz festival. More info

City of Lakes Loppet Ski Festival (January)

This festival of cross country skiing and winter activities is a great opportunity to get on your skis, or simply watch all the action and enjoy an ale in the beer garden. Snow sculpting and snow shoeing are part of the fun. More info
